Very fun when your kid develops their own fashion sense, though it’s painful that she is rejecting all the classic vintage denim jackets I thrifted for her… turfed for being “not rainbow”

I do not want to encourage my daughter to fixate on her appearance, but I do love when she dresses herself in the most chaotic outfit (strawberry dress, purple tutu, seagull leggings, bunny socks under rainbow sandals), then looks in the mirror and whispers “I look perfect.”

Words cannot explain the sadness and grief I am feeling. It’s hard to imagine moving forward with Arley, a dear friend and most wonderful colleague.

They would put on makeup and fancy clothes, and promenade until they received a sufficient number of compliments. This is exactly how I want to remember her. Have a beautiful walk, dear Arley.

I marvelled at the close relationship she had with her daughter. She was the fun mom I wished I could be! In one IG post, she described what her daughter called their "beautiful walks" [4/n]

I don't spend much time here now, but I felt called to log in today and this is when I learned of @Arley_McNeney's sudden passing. I've since read beautiful tributes to Arley from my friends in open education, libraries, professional writing, disability advocacy, and beyond [1/n]

@thatpsychprof @Arley_McNeney Oh Rajiv, there are no words 😔 I didnt have the privilege of knowing Arley personally, but her tweets were a bright spot in my feed. She taught us so much. She leaves behind an incredible legacy on so many fronts: educator, athlete, writer, mother, advocate in the purest form

It is difficult to articulate the magnitude of devastation from the loss of my cherished friend and colleague @Arley_McNeney. I consider it one of the great privileges of my life to have worked closely with her during my time at KPU.
