Claims that today is worse than the Great Depression or rather its a "silent depression" went super viral Summer 2023 on TikTok. They attempted to erroneously support it using historical data. The trend, petered off by the end of the year, though.

@EconChrisClarke The tech lay off news coverage is ironic. Google lay off a couple hundred and people forget there are 300+ million people in this country then panic and freak out. I appreciate you and Dr.A making accessible content for people with economics degrees!
