Liberty didn’t sniff the playoff because it was still a four-team playoff. Only one non-power team ever made the four team field and they did so on the strength of consecutive seasons.
Liberty did make a New Year’s 6 game which is more apt.

@BCrawford247 As a Akron Fan, this is a bad example! See Liberty from a few years ago when they went undefeated. Their Schedule was Dead Last in the Country(everyone knew that they were Frauds) and they did not get a sniff of the CFP.
