We’re growing & have to do it together. We can’t expect all new housing to be built in neighborhoods already burdened by increasing pressure of displacement. All neighborhoods, including wealthy older ones, have to open to new housing, new types of housing & new neighbors.#ralpol

@OakCityCRE @potentialral Pretty much none ITB since the 70s. I have seen one or two almost townhome 4 Plex combos (corner of Clarke and Chamberlain) but almost nothing other than that. Would love to see it.

Something tough about trying to build less expensive housing is that you naturally would try to get the cheapest last/existing property. So it always feels like something less expensive/affordable being replaced with something more expensive.

@OakCityCRE Storage Units. Why does Raleigh have so many facilities that provide storage units? Massive amount of land is dedicated to it. Is Raleigh % an outlier? Is storage facility a “temporary use” until the land is sold for a different use?

@YIMBYDurham Would be nice if we could have a real conversation in Raleigh about affordable housing and solutions. The loudest voice in Raleigh has a political agenda and uses affordability as a dog whistle. They say they want affordable housing, but don’t want zoning changes. Rinse, repeat.

One my favorite Downtown Raleigh stories is St. Roch. I remember when they were dead. Now it’s packed all the time. The food has been awesome the whole time. So happy for Sunny and team. They were grinding for this.
