I told you guys to “get ahead now” last December on buying the One Piece Manga Volume 1 in its first print.
Today @LoganPaul just posted about buying a 9.6 BGS of that manga volume. You could have gotten that grade for around $4000 at the time I talked about this last December. Check my posts about other collectibles to get ahead while you still can on other things.

One Piece is the top selling manga of all time and the second top selling comic ever. It will surpass Superman for top comic sales in the coming years. Oda, the creator of One Piece, has indicated that he wants to finish the manga around 2030, so you may want to get ahead and start buying graded mangas now. Top priority is getting the “first printing” of One Piece manga Volume 1 (“Romance Dawn”), which was printed in December 1997 (see images). There are very few listings on eBay from trusted sellers with a grade of 9.0 or higher in BGS (or any other manga/comic grading company) and recent sales have been between $1500-2000 USD for 9.0 or higher. I expect this price to increase significantly as the manga nears its end, which is still at least a few years away. The hype for One Piece TCG will only likely drive up the price for the OG mangas, which should only be bought in Japanese first printing and not English (unlike the TCG cards where English drives higher prices than Japanese). Get ahead now.

The third manga set I’m collecting is Demon Slayer. I think over the next decade it will become the third most popular manga series (and arguably anime as well) ever. I think the market is currently undervaluing Demon Slayer. The catalysts for this franchise, which just reached its tenth year anniversary:
By July 2025, the manga had surpassed 220 million copies in circulation worldwide across just 23 volumes, cementing it among the all-time best-selling manga series. This is incredible for a title that finished its manga run in under FOUR years, unlike other top-selling mangas that went on for decades. Demon Slayer outperforms every other all-time franchise on a per-book (manga) basis.
Demon Slayer has already surpassed Naruto (often viewed as the third most notable anime/manga behind only One Piece and Dragon Ball) in domestic Japanese sales, and globally sits within striking distance of Naruto’s 250 million worldwide total.
The primary catalyst pushing Demon Slayer will be the Infinity Castle film trilogy, the first installment of which became one of the biggest anime movies of all time. Two more films are still to come. No doubt they will be huge worldwide successes.
There is also an ongoing TCG for Demon Slayer, part of the Union Arena sets by Bandai.

Most people missed the One Piece and Dragon Ball mangas at much lower prices. So today I will be posting what I think is the current best opportunity to collect an essential manga series that in the next few years will likely become one of the top four biggest selling manga series ever. And possibly top three eventually. There has been an increase in volume for this particular manga series in the past week, although this market remains largely under the radar. Stay tuned.

I have repeatedly encouraged you all to buy Beckett-graded One Piece Manga Volume 1 in first print, as well as some other iconic volumes. These are known as “Tankobon” grades by Beckett. Now we have a huge sell today of the One Piece Volume 1 first print. Check my earlier posts about some other manga volumes to target. Japanese and first print only, and @beckettcollect graded.

Highly recommend that you check eBay each day for graded One Piece manga volumes 1, 100, 103, and 104. In my opinion those are the top to collect. There are increasingly less listed on marketplaces that are graded (never buy these mangas raw, too many fakes out there), let alone in high Beckett or BGS grades like 9.8. I had a friend recently buy a Volume 100 in BGS 9.6 for less than $300. Absolute steal, so these opportunities, albeit rare, still arise. Keep your eyes peeled. This is for the true collectors.

Update: I think the two auctions I linked below are all time highs for both One Piece manga volumes 103 and 104 in BGS 9.8 grades. Wow. $2,175 for Volume 103 (first appearance of Gear 5 Luffy) and 104 (iconic Gear 5 cover). @viper_ilv I think Illuvium did this really well. Players who aren't great at AB can win and get one Illuvial. Great players can get more or used lower shards for more chances. It rewards good players but doesn't destroy weaker players.
