@ArtSchultheis It’s actually all contracted for aviation biofuel. There is a subsidiary company of Shell Corp trying to establish a market here in the Walla Walla valley.
@ArtSchultheis How does weed control work on this? What are your options and what kind of success do you see? What do you usually follow this crop with in your rotation?
@ArtSchultheis I believe I’ll be using their new 4112 model. What spacing are you running? Do you find it more difficult to set seed depth with individual rows having their own depth vs a Horsch that has more of a single point depth control?
Nice example of an uneven stand of winter canola. All different life stages from just emerging to bolting. We have a handful of fields that look like this where they randomly hit good moisture last fall. At least it’s all there I guess.
@ArtSchultheis@dustfrmer I love our challengers for the jobs that don’t need high horsepower. They are cheap to run and maintain as long as you keep the tracks aligned properly with the hills.
How much metal is too much on Challenger Reaction Arm magnets. All 4 of them have looked like this for two years in a row. Is there a way to know how close to failure the bearings are?
@dustfrmer We haven’t had that much metal in any of ours. Pulled the plug and drained one today. We run 2 years, about 1k hours on them & run Hydrotex’s special hytrax30wt oil in them
Got caught up on spraying and started on some of the winter wheat. Beautiful day to get something done!
Fun fact: The Oregon Trail went across this flat branching off to the Fort Walla Walla Trading Post which was a division of the Hudson Bay Trading Co at the time
