Noticing a strong mental health theme across sectors - how are we supporting the health and wellbeing of those who support the health and wellbeing of young people in school, in communities and in families? #JoinedUp@UKYouth#youthwork#socialwork#teachers#education
Taking the discussion deep after lunch - what pressures do youth workers, social workers and teachers experience? And how do we see each other's sector? What do we wish each other would do differently? #JoinedUp@UKYouth#youthwork#socialwork#teachers#education
Experiences as a youth worker and teacher led Loic Menzies from @TheCfEY to think about why and how young people show up differently in youth work and education settings. What does this tell us about working better together? #JoinedUp@UKYouth#youthwork#education#socialwork
@jackwhitehall Hi Jack, my 5yr old son wants you to know "your movie Jungle Cruise is my favourite movie. And you are one of my favourite people in it. I liked the bit when you made friends with the jaguar. Thanks, bye 👋from Kai"
@TheRock my 5yr old son wants you to know "I am a big fan of Jungle Cruise. It's one of my favourite movies and you are my favourite person in it. I liked the other good guys too. I love your movie. And also, bye 👋 from Kai"
@YajYak22@Marilynrules1 I'm 44 and had no symptoms at all after either dose of AZ. Looks like it's really unpredictable (at least on the surface level) who will and who won't. I'm type 2 diabetic and would be considered significantly overweight, so I thought I might have some... but no 🤷♀️
@Marilynrules1 This terrifies me. I have no choice but to work. I know it may seem a small inconvenience to some but it is a real problem that gives me real anxiety.
@unicornthorn@MorganCataldo and this one that led me to the other one. They pull apart the identity threads that we have struggled to tackle in Y-Change in the past. You might have tackled it by now, but these two threads really get into the nuance.
One thing I keep thinking about re: that thing where so often people are equating their personal discomfort with oppression is that so much of it seems to stem from white people, and how everything in society is designed to coddle us so we never, ever feel uncomfortable 🧵
@BuchananLiana With everything we know about the impact of trauma, that this isn't part of the standard approach is tantamount to institutional neglect.
The fact that, as you say, this isn't the first time we're hearing this... that's willful ignorance.
It will never not make me furious.
Hearing once again at #CREATEhop2021 that young people in care need access to a specialised mental health response - one that is flexible, free and understands the trauma experienced by children and young people in the care system.
