The reason I can't join a run/walk club is because my walks are really my personal time. I want to just get lost in my thoughts without considering someone else's pace.

Can we normalize putting summaries on the back of books again instead of reviews? I just genuinely want to know what the book is about before picking it up.

Another rape culture indicator is "she gave it up too easy" if you both want it why should there be a struggle? The expectation of resistance to make the sex feel like a conquest is rape culture.
M-Jay🪅@Jamesoflife

I’ll always remind y’all that slutshaming women for consensually having sex but praising men for doing the same thing is rape culture. The idea that sex is a conquest is rooted in the erasure of women’s autonomy

@LaceVine Its due to lack of proper policies. Go to Bangkok Thailand, there's street food everywhere!! The roads are all tarred and clean ! We need strict environmental policies. People travel to Bangkok just to experience the "chaos" of street food and stalls

@moorehn The ego wears many masks and with women - our egos are tied to self safricing.. the more we can suffer and endure -the more worthy. The goal is to reframe what we attach our ego too To accept to ourselves that we are worthy outside of suffering and service to others

I can't remember where I saw this, but there was someone who made the point that the death of the ego is actually what men need. Because men are conditioned to put their ego first and to plan all of their movements from a place of ego. So it dominates their thinking, and they have to kill it off in order to access their intuition. What women need, however, is to build ego. Because women are conditioned to be self sacrificing, and to put their needs last. So male self-help books don't work for women because women are coming from a place of self abnegation. What heals women is to EMBRACE ego: To make a claim to what's around them and establish and accept their own individuality and preferences. I think Elizabeth Gilbert said this? Not sure though.
Enomfon@mydearenomfon

Someone said “ the death of ego will set you free as a woman” and I agree. Ego is the part of you that says: “I must prove I’m enough.” Freedom is when you realize: “I don’t need to prove anything to be enough. Emotional freedom is necessary, you become less reactive, less defensive, and more grounded in who you are. The best thing you can do for yourself a woman is to become unbothered by unnecessary validation.

One thing I I have learned is that a lot of Nigerians don’t tie their struggles to the dysfunctional system in Nigeria, they think it’s the devil or something

A lot of men can’t run a household for the same reason they can’t run their own business. They need instructions. They want a list. They want someone else to hold the system while they ‘help’. That makes them perfect employees. They’re more eager to submit to superiors, they thrive in structure, they follow direction, they work hard inside rules someone else created. But when they’re the one who has to notice what needs doing, plan it, remember it, and follow through without being asked, they stall. They’re more likely to tolerate mediocrity than women will. A lot of men think this makes them smarter, but really they’re just easier to manage because they’re trainable. They make great workers. They struggle with being the operator.
Ina💗@alicem3x

If men are smarter why can’t they have a full time job and run a household efficiently at the same time?

An interstate driver who couldn't sleep properly at night because no way to power the small standing fan that helps keep off mosquitoes in his apartment sits behind the steering in the morning with 18 passengers in his bus. The cool morning breeze caresses his face as he drives, he dozes off and veers off his lane into an oncoming private air-conditioned car of a man who had a good night's rest and taking his kids to school. 18 passengers dead. The man taking his kids to school losses both legs. Kids dead. If one isn't you, the other could be. You have no idea how much bad governance puts you at risk every day.

Not having stable electricity means that your water supply would be epileptic and so you wouldn’t be able to take showers with your partner because you’re managing water. This means that you’d have nobody to help you wash your back and your back will be dirty. This might cause friction in the bedroom when your partner is kissing your back and they taste dirt. Get your PVC, we have to vote this party out so your relationship can be saved.

One thing I need the gurlies to be aware of when getting into relationships with “provider men” is that you’re exchanging a non-renewable resource(your time, your youth), for a renewable resource (money). And trust me, as long as you’re growing yourself and your craft, the money will come.

I wish I could project this message across the sky so every young woman would see it. Especially the girls from Ebonyi State. The things I can afford for myself now? Even the men who were 10+ years older than me back then, trying to cajole a teenage me into marriage with one silly material promise or the other, cannot afford them for themselves. Please study. Work hard. And wait, pleaseee. Life is not running away. Neither is enjoyment. Pleaseee wait🥺

If you wait long enough as a young woman, all of the experiences men promise you in return for sexual relationships with them, a woman will gift to you, or you start earning enough to gift them to yourself. Listen to me: WAIT.

In the early 2000s, this was a thing in my village. When we traveled for a burial, so I was reading aloud when my grandma just snapped the book away. "Why are you reading aloud and showing off, do you want these small cult boys to come and R"pe?" She yelled at me and left with the book. I was confused, so I went to ask my cousins and the other kids around that stayed in the village, they said grandma was right, that they knew two girls that have been R"ped by these boys and some of the boys were the victims classmate and they believe the girls were targeted because they were topping their classes. And the girls had to stop school because of the shame of what happened to them. I became cold.
