@JoyceCarolOates I've not seen "Hamnet" yet but I'm looking forward to it especially due to Jessie Buckley - she's appeared in several film adaptations of literary novels and narrated the audio books for some of Dickens' work. An excellent actress!

"Hamnet" springs to life once we leave the forest for London with the production of "Hamlet" in which a boy-actor playing the tragic hero mesmerizes his audience; if not totally believable, the boy-actor is totally adorable with bleached blond curls & TikTok- influencer charisma. a thrilling vindication of art-transforming-life depicted in Jessie Buckley's remarkable performance.

remarkable child actors in soft-focus alternative-reality vision of William Shakespeare's life as a young married husband in "Hamnet." singularly strong performance by Jessie Buckley & Vermeer-like interiors beautifully photographed. even the plague, mysteriously striking one child but sparing the other, is more mystic than brutally physical.

On a recent trip to America I found a first edition of @JoyceCarolOates “Mysteries of Winterthurn” in a used bookshop. Now I’m thrilled to have original copies of her superb Gothic Saga novels all together! 📚
