While haplogroup I1 is Germanic-linked, it is a pre-Steppe haplogroup which shows a strong founder-effect/or resurgence of native European Hunter gatherer populations of this lineage. The core-Germanic Steppe haplogroup is R1b-U106 which is dominant in modern Anglo-Saxons too.
