We shared some good memories as church friends years ago, but tonight marks the end of that friendship for me. I have blocked his number and will be removing him from all my social media platforms as well. Why am I sharing this? Because life has a way of revealing people for who they truly are. Sometimes, the signs come in the smallest situations. Yes, football comes with banter, and there is nothing wrong with healthy rivalry. However, some people use banter as a cover to display their real character. Over time, I have learned that not everyone who calls themselves a friend truly deserves that title. Some people only show up when they have an opportunity to mock, belittle, or celebrate your disappointment. I've had enough of such friendships, and I'm choosing peace over pretense.
