Today, we’re proud to announce a groundbreaking collaboration with @FLFusion , the UK’s inertial fusion energy company and a pioneering leader in machine learning-driven simulation as we sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore how our British-built, sustainable AI can accelerate cutting-edge research in high energy density physics and fusion energy. We’ll be investigating how Locai’s foundational AI model can enhance technical workflows at First Light Fusion, from code development to agentic AI systems to boost machine learning simulation productivity, all running securely on their air-gapped infrastructure in Oxford. Why AI Labs are the Biggest Risk to App Layer Companies: "The biggest risk for app layer companies is AI labs.  The labs are creating apps, they're creating more value via the models and they're giving them directly to users. As an app company, you need to be doing better than what $20 a month can get you from ChatGPT. The labs set the baseline of customer experience. @matthewclifford, Chair of UK’s @ARIA_research, told the @LordsSTCom yesterday that ARIA doesn't retain ownership or control the IP created by the research it funds. In my view, we can’t afford to provide our science as a free good to the rest of the world like this. Agree?
