In Australia they didn’t tell you I produced on the Best R&B Album at the Grammys this year.
They didn’t tell you about my last 3 songs and they won’t tell you about my next 3.
It’s ok, they wouldn’t get it anyway.
You need to be tapped in to understand this.
you can think you’re good at something • you can be told you’re good at something • you can even know you’re good at something •
but if you continually bring ego into the public equation before reaching your potential you’re doing more damage than good for your own journey
pro tip:-
keep all ur beats & collab ideas in ur notes on ur phone & laptop or keep wavs handy on ur desktop so whenever u visit someone else’s studio you don’t have to rely on internet access to play anything for anyone u might be sharing with 🌹
Take away the money, the watch, the lights, cameras, the high end brands & labelling, take away all the hype and then when you strip that all away….
You really see who you really are…
as producers & engineers, in early days, it’s important to recognise the difference between growth & networking opportunities & bag making opportunities 🌹
creating music has been the only thing that’s kept me from falling to pieces in some of my darkest days … & just letting anyone come in & be a part of or involved with that side of life is a process I will forever be cautious with 🤍🌹
If someone sends something to me & there’s no clear understanding of what you’ve sent in the title - that shii never getting opened.
Whether we’re close or not doesn’t matter. I’m not trying to fill my PC with poorly labelled wavs etc .
1 thing that “producers” need 2 understand is the importance of correctly labelling bounce outs, whether it’s loops, stems or ANYTHING you’re sending to others.
