- Aiming for high quality (but not top) journals can provide more and faster feedback. Be realistic - Even if desk rejected, sometimes graciously emailing back for 1-2 lines of feedback can help dissect where you need to rework/bolster your argument (methods? 'so what'? ethics?)

- If you're not pitching to editors, ensure you're grounding in relevant topics to the field. The 'so what' factor really gets you at the desk reject - Read journal articles and notice patterns and formats in writing #phdchat #acwri

Great tips, but wanted to add from another perspective #phdchat #acwri - If the article's written but it wasn't for publication, expect to completely rework it - Look at the aims and scopes of journals, start an excel sheet, and it might be useful to categorise by citation format
