Fletcher says roughly 𝟑𝟎𝟎 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐬 tied to local gangs gathered at a venue in Arden Hills over the holiday weekend. Officers on scene curtailed the activity there, but two hours later the same group was involved in a s∗ooting in northeast Minneapolis. 𝘞𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘺 𝘥𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘴.” — Sheriff Bob Fletcher Fletcher was careful to note the scale: out of roughly 100,000 Somali residents in Minnesota, he estimates only about 300 young people are actually gang-involved, calling the other 𝟗𝟕 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 “𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴.” That distinction hasn't stopped local leaders from pushing back.
