@DrJacobsRad In this case the protesters were blocking a pathway and the police asked them to move and they didn't. At least that's the story that's out there. Whether the beatings were necessary, hard to say. Probably not.

The world is about to get a master class in antisemitism. Israel's minister Ben Gvir's behavior towards the flotilla activists was unacceptable. I said so myself. World leaders all posted angry denunciations of the Israeli government and summoned Israeli ambassadors for a dressing down. Here, the same activists are receiving much more brutal treatment at the hands of the Spanish government. What we won't see however is an international outcry against the Spanish government. This imbalance isn't due to the vagaries of international diplomacy. People hold the Jewish state to a higher standard than they do any other state, and fundamentally it's due of bigotry and hatred. @AnitaAnandMP

Robert Pasteiner, 76, of Chichester, West Sussex, pleaded guilty today to 36 child sex offences at Portsmouth Crown Court in what prosecutors described as one of the most disturbing cases of its kind. The silver-haired paedophile, who once ran Chichester Multiprint Limited, funnelled vast sums from his retirement pot to facilitators in the Philippines over a period of several years. He would place orders for specific acts on young victims, watching the horror unfold in real time from the comfort of his UK home. National Crime Agency officers say Pasteiner's handwritten notes recovered from his home detailed cold, calculated requests for abuse, including timings for so-called shows. One chilling set of instructions even specified exactly what he wanted to see. He was arrested at Heathrow Airport in February 2023, just minutes before boarding a flight to the Philippines. Investigators found perfume and jewellery intended as grooming gifts for the child, condoms, Viagra, thousands in Filipino cash, and fake documents.
