In some episodes back, Rhaenyra lost her last child who is a stillborn. Years later Alicent sent a boy to Hightower house. Now looking at the plot of the story, it’s safe to say that Rhaenyra’s kid that she thought she had lost was Daeron Targaryen. That’s why Ormund hid him from Daemon

This isn't even a hot take, it's just dead wrong if you look at how he actually won the Stepstones. Caraxes didn't bail him out, Daemon on foot literally ran onto the beach as a bait just to draw the Triarchy out of their caves. ​The real difference is his sheer, unhinged ground combat and total disregard for his own life. Armed with Dark Sister and a willingness to fight in the mud, he built a psychological edge that made him the most feared commander in Westeros with or without a dragon.
