We’ll explore how deep learning is reshaping galaxy science in the Rubin era. We’ll see how our models can help find unexpected objects, extract distances and physical properties from images, and uncover subtle structural patterns across cosmic time through galaxy classification.

Join local artist Kenneth Tan in this beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll learn how to draw a flower using simple line patterns inspired by traditional Filipino weavings and tattoos.  Enjoy this opportunity to slow down, de-stress, and get into a creative flow.

Celebrate AAPI Month with sustainable artist Leila Ghasempor in an educational, hands-on masterclass where art, history, and intention meet.

Come celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the library with local, sustainable artist Gigi Farmer!  Participants will create a lotus origami flower and a kimono origami card.  Program is designed for adults and teens.  All materials will be provided.

Masuma Ahmed will lead an ekphrastic creative writing poetry workshop that will invite participants to respond creatively to the artwork on display, using it as a springboard for their poetic explorations.

Projects will span multiple meetups. More details at first meeting. Future projects can be decided on by participants. Joining at a later meeting? No problem. All new members get to make an introduction collage and will be fully included in the group and current project.

The Great Basin bristlecone pine is considered the longest-living organism on earth, with a confirmed living tree that is older than 5,000 years! We will cover some of the scientific discoveries the bristlecone pine has been part of, how its environment shapes it, and much more.
