I was 8 years old when the US invaded Iraq for the first time. I have vague memories of the celebration afterwards. War hawks were bragging about the overwhelming success and how easy the whole thing was. We went on to fighting in Iraq for most of the next 30 years taking thousands of casualties and costing us trillions of dollars. I remember vividly the “mission accomplished” celebration two months into the 20 year catastrophe that was George W Bush’s invasion of Iraq. What followed was a wide consensus that it was one of, if not, the worst foreign policy blunders in modern American history. I remember Hillary Clinton boasting that “we came, we saw, he’s dead” immediately after overthrowing Muammar Gaddafi. A few years later when she was running for President, she wouldn’t dare bring it up because it was such an obvious, colossal failure. They told us that the Afghan army would hold the nation together. They told us that sanctions alone would defeat the Russians. They always lie but especially at the beginning of a war. I’ve seen a lot of people celebrating the Israel/Iran war for the last 48 hours. Talking about how it’s going exactly according to plan, and how easy it will be to overthrow the Iranian regime and improve life for Iranians as well as stability in the region. Maybe they are finally right this time, and for the first time. But, they are definitely celebrating way, way too prematurely, and I see no indication that it won’t be a catastrophe just like the rest.

Ok, I wasn't going to comment on Elon Musk and Ashley St. Clair, but I figured I should. Here are my thoughts on it: Dexter Taylor is currently serving a ten-year sentence for building his own firearms in New York. The judge who presided over his case prohibited him and his lawyer from bringing up the Second Amendment during his trial. ATF and NYPD raided his home and arrested him. He had no prior criminal history. The state of New York has violated his rights. Dexter is still fighting for his freedom as well as ours. Those who value the right to keep and bear arms must continue fighting for him.

I long for the day when US citizens are genuinely respected by their government. It hasn’t come in my lifetime and it's unlikely in the next four years, no matter who wins.

America lost something important today, and hardly anyone heard. The headlines of state-aligned media screech and crow about the nefarious designs of your fellow citizens and the necessity of foreign wars without end, but find few words for a crime against the Constitution.

It’s over (for now). A majority of senators caved to the fearmongering and bush league tactics of the administration and surveillance hawks in Congress, and they sold out Americans’ civil liberties. Section 702 has been reauthorized, not just without any meaningful reforms… 1/10
