Nearly most Zimbabwean surnames are found in prison , many inmates can go for months to years without a visit from a relative which by the way is an antidote to mental disorders. Prisoners pray unceasingly 24/7, many find God inside . Visit them!

@lennox_mhlanga @waltermzembi You don’t need to have been in prison to understand coping mechanisms. People use religion to survive grief, guilt, fear, illness, poverty and isolation everywhere. Prison only intensifies those conditions. A belief helping someone cope does not make the belief true.

@waltermzembi Prayer does not change rulings. At most, the NPA directive changed prosecutorial polic. Courts still rule on law and evidence. Calling that "prayer works" is confusing administrative action with divine intervention.

In a brazen act of faith , Harare Remand Prisoners thru my teaching , on the 1st of January declared 2026 the “ acceptable year of the Lord” invoking Isiah 61 and a Jubilee Season . We committed NPA and by 7th January a directive on decongesting prisons was issued !

@mugwejenuri @waltermzembi Coping does not mean comfort. It means mentally surviving what you cannot control. Hoping for miracles, praying after sentencing, or believing God still sees you in prison is exactly coping. It may help psychologically, but it does not prove God exists.

@lostfoundcause @waltermzembi Have you been to prison ? God can't be a coping mechanism in prison that is ill informed. How does religion help you cope with foren (fall in ) or ma toilet ekujeri or inda? Could be hoping for a miracle uri pa remand but once sentenced your fate is sealed

@curious_edline Will watch it. For me, suicide is often treated with moral panic instead of serious understanding. Sometimes a person may look at their future and conclude that their quality of life will never improve.

That time the dude, is broke and that's when it struck to me, football is the only thing happening in his life. He is living vicariously through "his team". Why so many men treat their team’s win like it’s their own? Walk into any bar on a Champions League night and you’ll see it. Grown men screaming, jumping, cursing at the ref like they’re on the pitch. The team wins, and suddenly it’s “we did it”. The team loses, and it’s a bad Monday. That’s vicarious living, and soccer is the main drug for it. *1. Identity without effort* Building status in real life takes years: career, family, skills, money. Supporting a club gives you an instant identity. You’re a Man City fan, a Man Utd fan, an Arsenal fan. No tryouts needed. When they win, your identity wins too. *2. Controlled emotion in a boring world* Most of life is muted. Work, bills, routine. A 90-minute match is 90 minutes where you’re allowed to feel everything at max volume. The highs feel earned, even if you did nothing but watch. It’s a legal hit of purpose and tribal belonging. *3. Tribe > Individual* Humans are wired for tribe. Your club is your tribe. When they score, you get the same neurochemical hit as if _you_ scored. Dopamine doesn’t care that you were on the couch. It cares that “your group” succeeded. That’s why losses feel personal - it’s a group loss. *4. Low cost, high payoff* You can be a fan from anywhere. No gym, no talent, no risk of injury. You put in $0 and 2 hours a week, and you get bragging rights, community, and emotional highs for months. It’s the highest ROI hobby out there. *The catch* It becomes a problem when it replaces real wins. If your only “we did it” moment is your club lifting a trophy, you’re renting meaning. Real fulfillment comes from things you actually control: your health, your work, your relationships. But used right, it’s healthy. It’s ritual, community, and a break from the grind. The mistake is confusing “we won” with “I won”. Be a fan. Celebrate. Then go build something in your own life you can say that about. Learn OR perish!!!
