🆘🆘 JOE (ID 250664), 2 YO, MALE – IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an aco - impound on 3/27/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 4/30/26 ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️ 🆘🆘 2ND Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 33 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ JOE IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Perhaps feeling a little out of his depth here at the Care Center, Joe's taken to his den to sort things out. I don't want to assume, but I imagine there's an insurmountable kind of tinge to them only exacerbated by Joe's dedication to doing it all on his own. Joe came to us from a home with other cats and may prefer to do things this way as he also may not have a lot of experience meeting new people. We keep trying to explain that though we are new people, we also have treats, toys, blankets, and beds to offer. For his part, Joe seems almost entirely uninterested except not quite as he's adorably a little curious about treats. When it comes to making new friends or finding a forever family, we understand that Joe might have to try it his way first, we're just hoping that his forever family will love and appreciate his efforts as they welcome him into their home. Joe tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter and may be intimidated by small children. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 GATITO (ID 252340), 9 YO, FEMALE – IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as a stray on 4/17/2026. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 4/30/26 ➡️SENIOR ALERT ➡️ MEDICAL PRIORITY – NEEDS MORE CARE AND ATTENTION THAN THE SHELTER CAN PROVIDE ➡️ TOO LOW ON PLEDGES TO STIMULATE RESCUE INTEREST ➡️🆘🆘 4TH Chance on Emergency Placement List – BEYOND URGENT - NO ROOM IN SHELTER – WILL NOT BE GIVEN MUCH MORE TIME – VERY HIGH EU/SILENT KILL RISK – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 12 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ GATITO IS ON THE EPL FOR MEDICAL REASONS - She is an adult cat with persistent bloody urine due to a mass in her bladder. She has warmed up to staff while in shelter but her urinary symptom has not resolved. She needs surgery to biopsy the mass and make an effective treatment plan. This evaluation/diagnosis means that GATITO will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 What my friends at ACC say about me: Gatito has made significant improvements since her arrival on the 17th and came forward out of the den, curious and sweet. She approached the assessor, arched her back, gently enjoyed petting, leaning in gently for cheek rubs and eating squeeze-up treats. She tolerated being picked up and then was set back down. She got slightly upset and gave a single hiss, but otherwise appeared reasonably calm and very sweet. Towards the end, she did seem to become somewhat aroused and did some additional hissing and a little posturing as if to swat, but then leaned in for more cheek rubbing so she appears to be sweet but a bit conflicted. Gatito interacts with the observer, solicits & appreciates attention, is often easy to handle and tolerates all petting❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke @mehser12 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 CREAM (ID 250508), 1 YO, MALE– IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 3/25/2026, with the surrender reason stated as person health - debilitating injuries. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 4/11/26 ➡️ ONLY A BABY – JUST BEGINNING LIFE ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 16 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ CREAM IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe. Cream tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. Behaviorally, Dee Dee is often head bunting and soliciting attention with handlers. She would highly benefit from continued direct care and monitoring that we cannot provide. This evaluation/diagnosis means that DEE DEE will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Everyone knows I love seniors and DeeDee is no exception. She is a 12 year-old beautiful girl both inside and out she was brought into us by the NYPD when she was found roaming around and her owner was unable to be located. Dee Dee is so incredibly loving and just wants to be pet and loved on. I can tell that she is just looking for a cozy couch with a sun puddle and a warm lap to spend her days. I can't continue to explain how perfect I think she is, how loving I think she is, and how lucky I think anyone would be to have her as a part of their family. Seniors have no place in a shelter so please open your heart and home to this angel. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 TAQUITO CHIQUITO (ID 248595), 1 YO, FEMALE– IN MANHATTAN ACC - came into the shelter as a stray on 2/28/2026 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 4/4/26 ➡️ JUST A BABY – BEGINNING LIFE ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 34 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ TAQUITO CHIQUITO IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - She is not thriving in the care center and continues to display challenging behavior during interactions. She is extremely intelligent and high energy and needs to expend energy constructively with interactive play sessions 3-4X/day. In addition to playtime, this cat would also benefit from mental exercise from activities such as puzzle toys/games, lick mats, or clicker training. Without providing activity for his/her mind and body, the cat may react with rough play, potentially resulting in bite/scratch incidents. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: I visited Taquito again today and found her absolutely charming. She grabbed and swatted, but did so gently and playfully, no claws in sight. She spent a good deal of time rolling on her back and striking poses that seemed to invite tummy rubs, all the while chirping in a pretty hard-to-resist fashion. Taquito today was every bit the adorable one-year-old looking for a playmate who'll love her. Taquito Chiquito tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you

🆘🆘 WINTER (ID 241894), 5 YO, MALE– IN QUEENS ACC - came into the shelter as an owner surrender on 11/20/2025, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving - no pets allowed. 🆘🆘 😿 😿 😿 😿 ➡️TBD 01/17/26 ➡️ 🆘🆘 1ST Chance on Emergency Placement List – VERY URGENT – 🆘🆘 😱🔥🔥😱 ➡️ 57 DAYS IN SHELTER – TOO LONG – TIME IS RUNNING OUT ➡️ WINTER IS ON THE EPL FOR BEHAVIORAL REASONS - He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. He has not warmed up significantly despite staff using treats to build a positive association. This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Meet Winter! Winter came to ACC when his family had to move into housing with a no-pet policy. He's a shy, sensitive boy who prefers quiet spaces and gentle people. In his previous home he hid at first, then warmed up into a sweet, affectionate companion who liked to lounge, watch the world from the couch, and play softly when he felt safe. Shelter life has been overwhelming for him, but staff can see his gentle nature peek through when things are calm. My Ideal Home Winter needs a patient, experienced adopter who understands shy cats and can give him time to adjust. A predictable, quiet home with cozy hiding spots would help him settle in. Winter has a history of urinating outside the litter box in his previous home, so his adopter should be prepared to work with a veterinarian and set up a supportive environment with multiple clean litter boxes, unscented litter, and low stress. With patience, he can blossom into a calm, steady companion. Good with Kids? Winter lived with children but was described as timid and overwhelmed at times. Because he is fearful in the shelter, we recommend no young children. Older, quiet kids who move slowly and respect his space may be a good fit. Good with Other Pets? Winter has lived with other cats and tended to hide at first, then coexist peacefully. Slow introductions and plenty of safe spaces will be important. We don't know how he feels about dogs, so any dog should be calm, cat-savvy, and introduced gradually-or he may prefer a cat-only home. Other Fun Facts • Quiet "couch potato" who loves observing from a comfy spot • Enjoys crinkly toys and soft, gentle play • Eats both wet and dry food and loves Chicken Temptations ❤️ 😻❤️ 😻❤️ 😻 NEEDS OUT OF SHELTER ASAP – Please RT or pledge, if you can, to save this little one. @AdamsPaulGrimke 💔😿🙏Thank you
