🚨 the Philippines just declared an "energy emergency".. they import 95% of their crude oil.. and diesel prices have nearly doubled since February.. inflation hitting 5.1% this year.. the Philippines has no troops in the Middle East.. no stake in Iran's nuclear program.. no seat at any table where this gets decided.. they're literally 5,000 miles from the Strait of Hormuz.. and they're already in their biggest energy crisis ever.. this is what a war at a chokepoint actually does.. it doesn't stay there.. it travels.. it shows up in the price of a jeepney ride in Manila.. a kilo of rice in Cebu.. a generator in Mindanao.. 115 million people who had nothing to do with any of this.. in 1973, the Arab oil embargo did the exact same thing.. developing nations got hit first and hardest.. paid for a war they didn't start.. 50 years later, same chokepoint, different country.. and the Philippines won't be the last one you hear about.
