Importing is the single most effective strategy for building region strength and it’s not close The only reason LPL has a single title or is even mentioned in the same breath as LCK is importing. The reason NA started contesting EU is importing. If we had more heavily targeted EU over Korea we’d probably just be straight better. You’re not only getting top players yourself, you’re taking away top players from another region. It’s disgustingly effective NA development has been butchered forever, but why is the conclusion from that always been anti-import, and not anti-GM? You can easily do both. There’s no way we’re saying signings like Berserker or Inspired aren’t good for the league. And importing those players doesn’t mean you can’t develop natively. Especially tier2 LCK imports, which would actually give an org more resources and room to develop players, since you get a high caliber player instantly on an inexpensive contract. As far as “LCK rejects”, why does that matter at all if they’re top players here? If Europe could import bench NBA players they’d fill their rosters with them The problem is not importing, it’s bad imports + bad native development. I don’t see how we watched GMs make terrible import signings, hold onto washed/awful players for years instead of developing new ones, owners vote to remove academy and then not even put their own investments into tier2, and the predominant conclusion is always that the issue with the region is importing is conceptually bad Staff are awful it’s that simple. For the large majority of the history of the league they were *literal* frauds. I was getting told 5 years ago that it’s perfectly fine that our coaches are legitimate platinum players. We’re mostly past that one now thank god but we’re not at all at the stage of talented GMs or competent ownership or strong org culture. These organizations are terrible from the top down and have been terrible for 15 years. But never has the conversation focused on staff moves
