Although, the second half felt a bit rushed in comparison to the first, Nana and Thoko getting their happy ending/ending up together was so sweet. Thoko also being Nana’s first kiss was special.

The execution may not have been perfect, but Umjolo: There is No Cure was a fun watch for me. A South African romcom featuring two Black women at the center of the story, falling in love…I couldn’t have been happier. And Durban as the film’s location? Such a beautiful place.

I finished A Bride for Rip Van Winkle last night (had to space it out over two days because it was essentially 3 hours long), but you feel the loneliness all of these characters harbor. It has a melancholy atmosphere to it that carries throughout. An interesting watch.
