I truly don’t understand why people aren’t also equally appalled at Benson’s slewfoot. Yes, the stick slash is way more dangerous and far more violent and cannot happen. He will be suspended likely for 3-5 games. Benson slew-footed him up 4-1 in the final 2 minutes of a series-ending win, on a clear icing after Benson lost the race. McAvoy is 100% wrong for the slash, put blatantly ignoring context seems foolish to me.

Lots of people pounding the table for Beane to get the axe, I disagree. Fewer for McDermott but there are some, I also disagree with that. Personally, I didn’t think either were on the hot seat coming into the season so I can’t go from 0-100 on a season that ended in OT of the Divisional Playoffs. I’m not sure either felt like they were on the hot seat but I do believe that changes this offseason. I like the idea of having a GM that’s backed into the corner with a win right now and don’t worry about the cap or draft capital in ‘27 mindset. A new GM is worried about now and later. Just a few thoughts from the plane seat next to @MattParrino. Peace and love.
