Been fairly windy, but I couldn't figure out why suddenly losing the ends of so many small branches. Turns out it's the end of the Cicada cycle, with the females carving these notches in pencil-thick branches for the eggs. The weakened branches then drop. See you in 17 years!

Broughton C.E. Primary and Nursery School is a very special place, so it was fantastic to pop in chat with Mr Costa and his team and see their infectious enthusiasm about the place and what it offers for local children. I was also honoured to be invited to cut the ribbon and officially open their new nursery - an amazing airy and light space with just the most fantastic view. Getting a project like this over the line requires many people to step up and lend time, money and experience to the effort, and that it is there and will serve generations of local children in the future is testament to all of those involved.

@BBCSimonJack What makes me bloody annoyed about the insincere apologies is they never explain why. If you have an explanation, you may be more likely to be understanding of the problems being encountered.

On a train. Standing room only for 3 hours - all seat reservations void. Tannoy apologising saying it’s been reduced from 9 coaches to 5 but not information as to why? Why would you cut number of carriages in half if you have the staff to run 5? Any insights welcome.
