@GioPetersAuthor I think time period definitely makes a difference! I’m thinking that Ancient Rome may benefit from a third person POV so I can flesh out the world even more as it’s so different from our own!!

@lucymhalley Histfantasy writer here! My fav time period is Victorian/Edwardian and I like first person because it gives depth and they usually wrote like that in that time.

Calling all historical fiction/fantasy authors on here – I’m currently trying to decide whether to change the POV of my WIP to be third person or keep it as it is in first person! Does anyone have any thoughts? Favoured POVs?? Suggestions?? Any and all help is welcome!

@syaneyin I’m definitely thinking of choosing this style of third person when rewriting/editing!

@lucymhalley i personally love writing in third-person limited, i feel like it gives you a lot of room to hone in on that one character without sacrificing the bigger picture details that plop your MC in their setting/motivation

@lucymhalley Hi! I wrote historical fantasy and fiction. I always used third person, but I think that’s just a personal preference. A lot of my favorites have third person.

@austinsrhea That’s what I’m thinking at the moment! It would definitely be third person focusing on the MC as opposed to multiple characters, but I’m liking the idea of being able to get inside the heads of other characters and flesh out the world a little bit more!

@lucymhalley i’m always a 3rd person fan- lends itself so much easier to playing with psychic distance and giving plausibility to characters knowing/not knowing certain things
