@LeekingMemory I did catch that and honestly that's what made me start thinking it was a critique on white savior / colonialism. The movie vs books give me personally slightly different vibes, so far on the same subject. Like I said before l, I still need to finish the series so I'm uneducated.

I'm convinced the "DuNe Is A wHiTe SaViOr" takes are from people who failed or hated High School english lit classes. A good chunk of 10-12 for me was comprehension on subtext and symbolism. We read Cormac McCarthy's darkest and densest work my senior year even.

@Red5WritingBy I agree, i really like that Michael j Sullivan does all his novels on Kickstarter, and I think it shows it can work for some people. Sanderson tho, if people are trying to say he's the norm of how this would work out, they are really optimistic to say the least..
