I think one of the funniest things to come out of Summer Games Fest last year was when Half Life fans started tracking Gabe Newell's yacht and freaked out when it was headed to Los Angeles like he was going to crash up on stage to announce the next game

@Mario_Tobiass @HardwareSteam why would they do a press announcement for the SGF showcase? the whole "Summer Showcase of Summer Showcases" is already their steam showcase for SGF as well as every other showcase happening this summer. they've done it since 2022

@Tubbymcwub @HardwareSteam but referring to the steam page showcase as an event is inconsistent within the document's own wording. it repeatedly uses event to refer to the livestreams throughout the entire document but then it decides to switch and call its steam page an event? that doesnt make sense

@lukesmoonlight @HardwareSteam I can only assume the "event" in "mid-event announcement" is specifically for the overall "Steam's Summer Showcase of Summer Showcases". It's listed as an "event" and is in "upcoming events". I don't think it'd be on that page if talking only about a single event

@Tubbymcwub @HardwareSteam i dont think valve even DOES their own events nowadays. not to mention the important part of this isnt whether or not it's at SGF, but that they explicitly plan a press announcement for TOMORROW. i just dont see why they would announce something tomorrow but not at SGF

@Tubbymcwub @HardwareSteam well they never say their own event though. they just say "mid-event announcement". it's extremely vague, which is intentionally so, but based on the wording of the rest of the document, "event" specifically refers to the events that are participating in their showcase

@Tubbymcwub @HardwareSteam no, the events that is referring to are specifically things like SGF. it's about "summer showcases" not "summer sales". that page on steam isnt for developers, it's for live show producers

@Tubbymcwub @HardwareSteam none of what's on that page is about sales. they even specifically mention in the first sentence that it's about the summer showcases that are always around the first week of june
