The “male loneliness epidemic” conversation keeps getting reduced to sex, and while that’s part of it, it’s not the whole problem. A lot of men aren’t lonely because women won’t date them. They’re lonely because their lives have no real-life infrastructure. Fewer friends, fewer nights out, fewer groups, fewer hobbies that put them around people. Just screens, anonymous “friends,” and a whole second personality built for the internet. And it’s not even male-only. Everyone is more isolated than they used to be. The crisis is less “no one loves me” and more “I don’t have a life that makes me feel needed, known, or useful.”

We can do a ton of GPU computed physics by representing voxels as particles. We do it in preprocessing stage. For characters it is good to have denser intersecting particles to avoid penetration. Because the representation of rigid bodies and fluids consist of the same atomic structure - a particle - it is much easier to make one coherent simulation

For more than 3,000 years, communities in Oxfordshire, England have climbed a hill to chalk the White Horse of Uffington. Without their work with hammers and buckets of chalk, this larger-than-life figure would disappear into the grass within 20 years. Archaeologists suspect this may have been by design: a monument that requires a community to maintain it is also a monument that continuously creates one. The horse has outlasted empires thanks to community and multigenerational dedication. It is an argument that some of the most durable things we can build are the habits of showing up. Pablo Picasso: It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child.

Remember being that little kid who read all day, whenever you could? Devoured books like nobody's business? Turns out we were probably undiagnosed ADHD or autistic just using reading as an escape from the sensory nightmare around us 👀

the moment a woman says “this space makes me uncomfortable with men present” she gets dogpiled by women and men alike until she backs down. meanwhile men lose their minds over something as simple as hearing a woman’s voice in a game.
