@whogafbro like yeah, it's a little invasive and people can be apprehensive about it, but using language like "torture devices" to describe speculums isn't really a productive way to approach the conversation around making these screenings easier.

@whogafbro i would rather just get the pap smear than take my chances on 1% bc cervical cancer treatment is far more brutal than a simple 5 min swab. i think people are just passionate abt this bc there is already so much misinfo around women's health as it is and this debate doesn't help.

I mean if you don't have a family history or genetic predisposition, you are fully vaccinated against HPV, and you are not sexually active, you're probably not going to get cervical cancer. Don't know why everyone glosses over this part. It's extremely extremely extremely rare

Hi, OBGYN here that does speculum exams daily. They’re not meant to torture but they can be uncomfortable or even painful for some. I use plastic speculums & lots of lubrication. I start with the smallest & go up if needed. These are important exams to have for women’s health!
