@Padders1979 The worry is this trend isn't changing. There was a consultation from dfe last year about narrowing the routes for post-16 education. So although they're bringing in T-levels, they may reduce other routes like BTEC.

Now I understand the need for rigorous assessment but is this a product of a mistrust of teacher assessment which is driven by poor systems for assessing school performance and therefore a ridiculous pressure to ‘perform’ in school comparison systems??

Last night I sat looking at GCSE options for my son - I thought education had moved on? Most subjects have at least one if not 100% exam based assessment - does this really assess our children’s skills and learning journey?? My fav is computer science with 100% exam 🤔🙄 REALLY?
