12x16" oil painting on canvas paper Philippines Landscape I will try to stay committed to painting at this size. Because nobody respects smaller paintings. YouTube art influencer Stefan Baumann says that people hang smaller paintings in the bathroom, not the living room.

@ktboldy Mmm. there's gotta be a way to keep her with the moment and intention........like something else while you are there, ie seeing so and so, or something that she would miss if she left.......it's so hard for you to just enjoy it all, I know. x

@lyndalmc52 It's always relaxing at the Old Gate Lynda, I love it there, and so did Chris but I sadly these days wherever we go she just says, "Is it time to go home now". The pizza was lazy cooking too but delicious. Enjoy your weekend xx

Saturday, May 2, 2026 Another fabulous morning, the kind you wish you could bottle. Eighteen degrees, blue skies, not a breath of wind. The forecast says rain tonight, so I’m enjoying every minute. I went down to the garage and lost myself in the flower cart I’m renovating. Twelve new roof slats cut, shaped, sanded, and the first coat of paint on. The new wood soaks the paint up. The first coat vanished almost as soon as I put it on, but I’m glad I decided to replace most of the roof slats. It’s already looking smarter. Mornings like this, with sawdust and sunshine, I feel as if I'm in my element. My wife Chris, who suffers with dementia was brilliant today. She was awake early and was completely absorbed in "Chateau DIY" on Channel 4. She enjoyed two whole hours of French château magic, which gave me time to get on. These few opportunities I get to myself mean a lot to me. Later, I gently suggested the pub, Chris isn’t always keen on going out, so I never push. But the sunshine was beckoning, and I fancied a pint of Bathams real ale. It’s been two weeks, and since my CKD diagnosis, I don’t drink at home anymore, so the odd pint out feels special. To my delight, she was up for it. The Old Gate at Heathton was busy, and the warm weather was getting people out. We sat on the couch under the awning, Chris with a glass of wine, me with a perfect pint of Bathams. No familiar faces, and Sammy, the landlady, was busy training new staff, but it was peaceful. Just sitting together in the sun, no pressure, no rush. But a big moment for us spending time together outside. Back home, I cooked dinner, homemade oven chips, a cheese and mushroom pizza, and a fresh salad. Simple and tasty. Then a friend of ours, Sharon, surprised us, dropping round Dot to Dot books, a bottle of Baileys Irish cream, and a huge block of Dairy milk chocolate for Chris. Such a kind thought. Chris’s face lit up, and the books are just right for her, calming, engaging, and no stress. We’re so grateful for the kindness of friends. If it rains tonight, it doesn't matter, we've already had a good day. Have a lovely evening or day, wherever you are. Keith & Chris

12x16" oil painting, on canvas MDF panel Savanna in southern Africa For my next painting I'm going to try to paint a Florida scene. Even though I hate painting palm trees. But people expect a landscape artist to paint where they live.

My 12x16 inch oil painting on canvas panel, Fall in the Adirondacks. I painted this in November. I live in Florida now, but I used to live in New York, and I miss the beautiful fall foliage we had. And I also miss mountains.

My 9x12 inch oil painting of an Israeli landscape. I think maybe this is not the best size to paint? Too small to have the in-person gravitas of a "real" painting, yet too big to look intimate on social media?

My 12x16 inch oil painting on canvas panel. Into the Misty Highlands. "Lost between earth and heaven, where the soul finds its true horizon." I finished this painting last month. It's the last medium-sized painting that I completed.
