@countrymousie Got to see something similar out sketching. So tiny, it could barely get through the long grass she was hiding it in. Its white dots were so close together they looked like stripes. Later, people were throwing balls for 3 dogs where the baby had been! So glad she moved.

@Havenlust B. Lighting is most interesting and right amount of zoom (crop). 'A' on a wall would get boring quickly - it's all sun.

@sands731 @LeeMadgwick Unfortunately, there are likely 1,000s similar. It was a very popular style, when art was about following prevailing orthodoxy (which google images probably indicated). And if it was a lesser known artist, this will make it even harder. I'd be amazed if you find the exact one.

@lynneroebuck @LeeMadgwick Thank you kindly Ms. Roebuck for the feedback !! I have done everything including sharing the image with "Google Image" to no avail. Nothing helps. Thought, with more clues or individual(s) that are professional artists or Art History Majors they'd cipher it. A MYSTERY.

@LeeMadgwick I've allowed myself to give-in to this urge recently, after years of denying it. I've quickly acquired three majestic lone tree subjects to develop. I don't expect they'll be anywhere near your level.

@sands731 @LeeMadgwick It'll be a print (on canvas maybe) of an oil by an old master. Which one, I can't guess at - many painted similarly. I suggest start searching: "prints historical landscape art". There are many print websites with libraries of historical art including museums and history orgs :)

@LeeMadgwick Mr. Madgwick, Purchased this sofa, since then, searching high and low for the painting over the sofa. Cannot cipher whether ... is it oil, water color, some other medium and cannot even come close. It's soft, easy to live with, like your gorgeous tree. Recommendation?

#ancientsites litter the #yorkshirewolds in #eastyorkshire. This is a huge earthwork, and fascinating echo. A value sketch 29.5 x 58.5cm (11¾ x 23¼ inches) Acrylic plus other. Am battling with finalising this composition before starting some 'serious' work in the studio.

@IanGordonCraig There seems to be a lot of "badly trimmed" trees around nowadays. I never find them so, but your sketch aesthetic makes this one look attractive.

@WoodlandNomad Yup, giving your brain a rest by staring at trees is the best chill treatment. And it's ok, because trees are cool with being stared at 🤣.

Sometimes discoveries aren’t new. Knowledge has just been forgotten. “Mindfulness” & “time in nature is good for you” for example. Just go outside, enjoy the moment and remind yourself 😊 #TreeClub🌳

@IanGordonCraig Yes, I've been pondering the "same but different" creative options of this subject, and seasons is definitely one.

I'm attempting to work in 'series'. This is one of 3 series I've been pursuing: local Oaks Oil on canvas board plein-air (outdoor) painting: 25.4 x 30.5cm (10 x 12"). Needs a tweak The 1st composition I decided to develop back in my studio. I've added another 2, so I'm all set

Other series: 'The Yorkshire Wolds' + 'Flamborough Head Bays'. Altogether I've almost got nine compositions in total. Why so many? In 2024, I decided, I wanted to experiment (😳!) with how I make my art, using several types of subject to 'test' any new execution I develop.

@TheKentAcorn Wow, this is fantastic, a great achievement. I've been sketching the local Oaks for a series of artworks. I just have to seek out the Ancient Oaks identified near me. Much appreciated.

A question for my lady followers. I’ve read some research & discussed the findings with my resident psychologist, MissTC. One of the most attractive features in a man is “formidability”. Even amongst the strong, independent women is a liking for a man seen as capable/dangerous

@WoodlandNomad It was me (behind the advice), I wanted to sketch without interruption, even though it was a very sunny Sunday. It worked too. I got to sketch a couple of magnificant oaks on a well trodden path, while in glorious isolation. Bliss [content sigh].
