one of the strangest and darkest pokémon ever created. back in 2025, a developer called pacoscarso dropped a pokemon rom hack called pokemon odyssey. you can play as nyx, young explorer who enters enormous yggdrasil labyrinth (dungeons) in search of ancient treasures while trying to be successful as her system who was also a famous treasure hunter. in pokemon odyssey there isn’t a badge gym system. the whole game is inside a big dungeon that has more sub dungeons in a world called talrega. every fight, wild encounters or trainers, are double battles and you cannot use healing items during combat. pokemon odyssey also introduces special “etrian variants” and a new ether type that gives you fighting chances. the story starts as an exciting treasure hunting but as it proceeds it becomes darker and darker. by the end game, a dark horror story unfolds filled with tragedy and body horror. but pokemon odyssey never oversteps its bounds by stepping too far. it’s a story disconnected from the core pokemon essence but it can easily stand as one of the top rom hacks ever created.
