Darren Raddysh vs Rasmus Andersson - Who are you signing if they'd come to Toronto as a FA?
First, lets take a look at Darren Raddysh - He put up nice numbers in his overage season in Erie at 21, 81 points in 62 games. His 5th season in the OHL. Getting better every year.
Then his 6th year in the AHL he set a career high with 51 points in 50 games. Again took time to figure it out but when he did.. excellent.
Then his 3rd full season in the NHL he just set a career high of 70 points in 73 games. Pretty much doubling his average from the prio 2 seasons where he did manage a respectable 33 and 37 points.
This year Hedman missed a ton of time and Raddysh took advantage of the opportunity being The man in Tampa with the future Hall of famer out with injuries and personal issues.
What do you think #Leafs nation? I don't know much about his game other than he was their #1 this year and is a big right shot from the point. i've heard it described as a real bomb, something the Leafs haven't had on the point since Bryan McCabe.. and could really change the look of their PP.
Clearly has figured it out with time as he's shown in every league he's played in.
What kind of term and $ makes sense for this Leafs team if they offered him a contract?
With the cap increasing massively i think we'll end up seeing some contracts signed that look like massive overpays vs some peers just because of that cap increase % wise.
Now let's look at Rasmus Andersson. If Raddysh is the late-blooming offensive wild card who just exploded, Andersson is the blue-chip, steady-eddie horse.
Unlike Raddysh, Andersson had high pedigree from day one. Drafted in the 2nd round by Calgary in 2015, he stepped right into the OHL with the Barrie Colts and dominated immediately, putting up 64 and 60 points in back-to-back years as an 18- and 19-year-old. No overage padding required here..The raw talent was obvious early, and he made the jump to the pros seamlessly.
He quickly cemented himself as a top-four fixture in Calgary, peaking offensively a few years back with a 50-point, +30 campaign. But check out his chaotic 2025-26 season: after grinding through a tough environment in Calgary (48 GP, 30 pts), he got shipped to the Vegas Golden Knights at the trade deadline. He fit like a glove on a contending blue line, chipping in another 17 points in 33 games and eating massive minutes during their playoff run so far. More than double the NHL experience than Raddysh as well.
Overall i'm not sure which guy fits the Leafs better. Depends who would come and at what price and term.
I think the leafs would 100% want either of these guys though and it would be a nice addition to their Right side with Tanev aging and his health and durability unknown.

Joshua-Trochek-Domi could be a fun 3rd line.

🚨 The Maple Leafs are one of the teams actively showing interest in Rangers F Vincent Trocheck, who the Rangers are looking to potentially move. “This wouldn’t be a surprise, but we know that New York is trying to get off the contract of Trocheck, right? Toronto is among the teams that have some interest, for sure.” Reports @DarrenDreger / @OverDrive1050 (Via youtube.com/watch?v=PYeZLz…) #Leafsforever

@tddt_5115 Dream bigger brother. Dallas can't keep both Robo, and Rantanen.
Knies for Rantanen.
McKenna - Matthews - Rantanen
Cowan - Pettersson - Nylander
