Finally, we also find an effect for the local-occupational labor market characteristics (FEs for districts and occupations included): The higher the local share of foreigners in refugees’ pre-migration occupations, the higher the probability of an occupational match. 5/5

In contrast to the labor supply, the labor demand (vacancies) only unfolds an effect for the employment probability on the occupational level. This indicates that the general demand for certain jobs is more important than the regional variation in this demand. 4/5

Ultimately, the finding "simply" demonstrates a sociologically sound and substantial interplay between the concepts & suggests that avoiding over- and achieving undereducation play an important role in maintaining high status across generations, beyond educational attainment. 4/5

Hey mismatch & mobility folks, in my new paper in RSSM I show that social origin only has an advantageous effect for educational mismatches among employees with intergenerational stability and that mobile employees do not contribute to the effects reported in the literature. 1/5

I just set up my Mastodon account and right now only tumbleweeds are rolling around in my follower list. I'll start following you in the next few days when I stumble across your accounts, but I'm also happy if you follow me first :-) @mbuermann" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">sciences.social/@mbuermann

@pengzell @torkildl @ESR_news @ECSR_Soc We don't either - it's only 14 months in our case :D Interestingly, in the meantime I reviewed a paper which was submitted there in 2022 and now already got 4 reviews and a decision of the editor. It obviously depends heavily on the handling editor.

@torkildl @ESR_news @ECSR_Soc At this point, I'd like to know anyone who *doesn't* have a manuscript that's been languishing there for the last 20 months

@TrevonDLogan Mhh, but should I now trust advice from an academic not to trust advice from other academics? I am a little confused.

I’ve been an academic long enough to know this: There isn’t a single academic you should trust on relationship, self-care, or mental health advice. Not one.

@Raabe_Isabel @thijs_bol Really sad to hear, indeed. We ourselves can join the chat with 14 months into waiting for reviews and our last hopes were that an R&R would be faster but these hopes are kinda smashed now as well...

I don't think I've ever tweeted about my follower count before and I plan never to again but it's hard not to be at least a little invested in this milestone.
