A young man who played for me years ago suddenly passed a week ago, I found out about after seeing numerous players from the team he was on posting about him. It reminded me In a world starving for real relationships and community, coaching and travel baseball is the antidote. No screens. No likes. Just dugouts, hotel lobbies, battles with the same guys every weekend. You build brothers. You build trust. You teach presence, grit, and how to compete together when it actually matters. That bond? It lasts way longer than any trophy. Remember, Coaches and travel ball aren’t just developing baseball players — we’re building community and life long friendships.

@knightknation4L I agree my friend! Working on an island 🏝️ or with your head in the sand is a recipe for disaster.

@M_Gerber17 Very Interesting times ahead for the entire ecosystem. I think the game needs a massive re set. So many things are out of balance at all levels ….more than ever, it’s vital to be around and collaborate with the right people 👊🏼

Sorry for the long post..but let’s talk about the elephant in the room: Higher education is being decimated by massive debt, the enrollment cliff (high school grads peaked in 2025 and will be declining for years), and AI making traditional $80k+ degrees feel obsolete. Personalized, adaptive learning on your phone is cheaper and better — the whole higher education system, including JUCOs, is cracking. What does this mean for college baseball? Power 4 programs (and a few elites) thrive as pro-style entertainment franchises backed by NIL, TV deals, and revenue. The rest? Brutal contraction — mid-majors, D2, D3, and most JUCOs face slashed scholarships, smaller rosters, program cuts, and dying facilities. The middle class of college baseball shrinks hard. My take: The development path shifts dramatically. Academy-style HS baseball is already growing fast as a serious alternative. Post-HS, we’ll see more players skip the collapsing traditional college route for AI-powered “graduate” learning (personalized, flexible, low-cost) combined with continued baseball development through extended travel organizations, post-grad academies, showcases, and indy leagues. The middle-tier player who doesn’t land a Power spot early loses the old safety net. Will Travel/academy pipelines become the primary engine for reps, exposure, and growth? Or does the space look completely different with less opportunities for the "next level"? The game within the game is evolving. Coaches, parents, players, scouts — how do you see the post-HS development space reshaping?

@chriscapozzi5 Yeah that’s a solid point! “Looking for a new opportunity, the one I was at didn’t work out” would probably open more doors??

@M_Gerber17 Also can we clarify there is NO portal for JUCO. The number of posts that have JUCO players in a non-existent portal is unreal. Just say you are looking to transfer and then be honest when you talk to a potential new coach. We will find out the real reason anyway.

Quick Question…doesn’t the portal open on June 1st? Why so many “I’ve decided to enter the portal” posts already? Oh, because you were asked not to come back, got it….

It’s been a minute since I’ve been active here on X — took some time off to step back, clear the head, and recharge. But College Baseball postseason is among us and travel ball season is starting…so it’s time to rev up the engine! Everyone screams on here about not playing year round, so I had to listen, but it’s game time now…

In baseball, the difference between a W and an L is razor thin. One pitch. One swing. One split-second read. The whole game can flip in the blink of an eye. It’s the ultimate game within the game—pitch to pitch, you’ve got to stay locked in when the pressure’s dialed up. Being fully present in that exact moment? Man, it’s the hardest thing in the world to master. The cage work matters. Those focused reps, the extra swings when nobody’s watching—they build the foundation. But when the stadium lights flip on and the stakes are high, it’s the players who control THAT moment who win over the long haul. Preparation gets you to the field. Presence wins the game. That’s baseball. That’s life. What’s your favorite time everything slowed down and you owned the moment? Drop your story below ⚾ I want to hear it. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.” — Ecclesiastes 9:10

Sometimes the people you respect most in this game of life are the ones you battled hardest against—guys in the opposing dugout or rivals across the boardroom table chasing the same deal. Just because you’re competing doesn’t mean you can’t have respect. Those people push you to bring your best time and time again. The real ones earn your respect and often times, once the fire has cooled, relationships are forged. That’s baseball. That’s life. “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” — Proverbs 27:17
