Identification of crimes involving Chinese cat abuser “sunny,” also known as Ma (male, surname Ma). The following is excerpted from local Chinese media. "In the early hours of April 19, volunteers discovered the body of a kitten in a trash bin in a residential compound in Jiulishan Subdistrict. The kitten’s eyes had been gouged out and its throat slit. After reviewing surveillance footage, it was confirmed that the person who discarded the body was a man surnamed Ma. Further investigation revealed that the kitten had been obtained by Ma under the pretense of a “kind-hearted adoption.” He had deceived a man in his 60s into handing over the animal. It is reported that this elderly man and his friends had previously entrusted more than 20 kittens to Ma, all of which are now missing. After several days of observation and evidence collection, in the early hours of April 22, volunteers apprehended Ma while he was out late at night and escorted him to the Jiulishan police station. During this process, volunteers also discovered that Ma’s movements closely matched those of a core member known as “Moutian” in an overseas social media community involved in cat abuse. According to a volunteer identified as Lin Feng (pseudonym), the community has hundreds of members, employs various methods of killing, and involves “sponsors” who offer cryptocurrency rewards to commission specific methods of abuse. There are even organized “killing competitions.” According to screenshots from the community, “Moutian” had posted three locations where abuse took place. After on-site comparison, volunteers found that one location strongly matched the parking area of the residential compound where Ma lives, while the other two were likely his home balcony and kitchen stove area. Lin Feng stated that the behaviors described by the account—such as going out late at night to carry out abuse and deceiving others to obtain kittens—correspond with Ma’s movements. Based on preliminary estimates by volunteers, more than 1,500 cats have been abused and killed by “Moutian” over the past four years." The heavier man in the image is Ma (male, surname Ma). The other individual is identified as Yang Zhilin, alleged to be the group’s leader, and believed to be residing in Japan. Video shows the moment a callous pet owner 'systematically beat' her whimpering Shih Tzu–cross with a slipper after it soiled its bed. Kay Holloway, 65, repeatedly hit the dog with 'considerable force' as it lay cowering on the kitchen floor at her home in Wimborne, Dorset. The abuse, which took place in July last year, was filmed on cameras within the property and shared with the RSPCA by a neighbour who had access to the recordings. In distressing video Holloway is seen marching into the kitchen in a pair of black shorts before she bends over the animal, dealing it a number of hard kicks. She then furiously picks up a slipper and uses it to whack the dog around 20 times as it whimpers and cries – calling it a 'b*****d'. A vet who viewed the footage told Poole Magistrates' Court the 'systematic beating' was clearly intended to inflict pain. Holloway was prosecuted by the RPSCA for an animal welfare offence which she pleaded guilty to. She has now been banned from keeping dogs for five years and the animal, called Shuini, has been rehomed by the charity. The court heard Holloway was also pet–sitting a friend's dog, a crossbreed named Loki, when the incident took place in July. In the footage, Holloway makes verbal threats of violence to the two dogs and voices stress and frustration that Loki is not house–trained – urinating on furniture and in the hallway. She was recorded grabbing both dogs by their collar and slamming them against doors, snapping when Shuini soiled her bed. The vet who studied the footage said: 'There are multiple examples within this footage of Holloway causing physical harm to these dogs. 'Physical harm is brought about through rough handling, by either yanking the dogs by their collar, slamming them against doors or, in the case of the smaller dog, lifting the dog by his collar. 'There are multiple examples of this type of rough handling within these videos.

A fine for severe animal abuse ~ what is the point of getting animal abusers to court! 😡 Tylar Mullen and Allan 'Elliot' Bothwell, South Lanarkshire convicted of the severe neglect of multiple cats, including one found “smelling of decay”. A Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) inspector attended the Larkhall address of Tylar Mullen and Elliot Bothwell, after concerns were raised about the welfare of four cats via the charity’s animal helpline. The inspector described the couple’s home as extremely unkept and difficult to walk through. They said: “The living conditions were horrendous. There was rubbish and cat litter spilled everywhere. The smell of marijuana was overpowering. “Numerous cats were seen darting around throughout the waste and upturned furniture.” One male cat, four-year-old Kiera, was found in the kitchen in extremely poor condition. The inspector said: “Once close enough I could smell an overpowering smell of decay emanating from the cat. Kiera was in horrendous condition and covered in open sores. “He was extremely underweight and was covered in fleas. It would’ve been evident to any responsible owner that the cat needed urgent veterinary care.” Kiera and the three other cats were seized on welfare grounds and taken to a vet. Kiera was found to be severely underweight and his *penis was extremely swollen*. He was covered in lesions at various stages of healing, and his skin was inflamed. He also had significant hair loss, and his coat was covered in fleas, with lots of skin flakes coming off it onto the examination table. He was given pain relief medication along with antibiotics as some lesions appeared infected. The other three cats also had fleas, scabbing and hair loss. They were transported to the SSPCA’s Lanarkshire Rescue and Rehoming Centre for further care. Kiera was taken to the SSPCA’s Glasgow Rescue and Rehoming Centre, but very sadly had to be put to sleep after his health significantly deteriorated. Mullen and Bothwell, who have since gone their separate ways, admitted breaches of animal welfare legislation but walked from court with paltry fines and derisory ban. Reacting to the sentencing, the SSPCA Inspector, said: “We are pleased with the Sheriff’s decision. Keira’s heart-breaking suffering, and death, were completely avoidable. “However, both owners decided to ignore their pet’s clear pain, leading to his health deteriorating to a point of no return.” Sentencing | Mullen fined £675 and Bothwell £750.
