@KurtsViews @MatildaBoseley That’s true but the federation blocks bad-actor (and spammer, etc) server reasonably quickly via a block-list. Admins take content moderation quite seriously.

@KurtsViews @MatildaBoseley Mastodon is run by several thousand inter-connected (federated) instances (servers). Run by people not corporations. Funded by end-user donations if they so chose. It *is* a bit of a learning curve; it’s to a Twitter work-alike.

@MatildaBoseley Does anyone know how Mastodon earns revenue?

I found a new-to-me group of about 10 Diuris sp. on the property. Dr. Lachlan Copeland in Coffs Harbour tells me that “it's what I call "Diuris sp. aff. alba (Northern Tablelands)". It's unnamed but reasonably common from about Werrikimbe NP to Gibraltar Range.” #metz #ozPlants

@stevenst @JessicaWorboys Indeed, it looked pretty intense on the radar as it moved west to east across the Guyra area. Might have been worse a tad south - at Black Mountain perhaps.

A very fast and fierce storm just ripped through Guyra. Pretty scary for 5 mins, heaps of wind, rain and hail. Then we emerged to a scene from winter! 😳

@macalba That’s incredible Gordon! So C. major (Glossodia major) over at your place? Too many cows at Terrys for most of the terrestrial orchids but some ungrazed patches. Do you ever get any other orchids there?

This one from the property we live on. This is Diuris abbreviata, Lemon Doubletail and is separated from D. sulphurea by having the broad labellum, round dorsal petals and shortened lateral sepals. A terrific terrestrial orchid! #wildoz #orchid

The wet/boggy ground is host to several patches of sundew (Drosera sp.) around the property. I’ve never before seen sundew in most of the current locations though I guess we’ve never before seen so many La Niña years in a row either. #metz #armidale #ozPlants

Another orchid from the NSW Northern Tablelands/New England. This is Diuris pallens (Northern Golden Moths) from around Ebor. My brother and I found these in a roadside drain, which is always a good place to look for terrestrial orchids! #orchid #wildoz #diuris

As a former Optus customer caught up in the breach, I'm incredibly frustrated. No information from them, the usual bromides. I've done what I can do but government IDs aren't simple or quick to change. Govt seems to be ignoring that #OptusHack

The colder mornings are almost over but there was still a decent frost this morning. This was the state of affairs as I headed off with the dogs a few minutes after sunrise (our local sunrise is currently at about 5:40 am). #metz #armidale #winter
