Earlier today on X, I posted, “St. Patrick worshiped Jesus.” I posted this because I was thinking about how many people turn St. Patrick’s Day into a day to celebrate drunkenness. What I did not anticipate was how many Roman Catholics would suddenly appear on my post saying, “Yeah, but he also was a Roman Catholic,” or, “Yes, he prayed to Mary too.”
One response that threw me for a loop was someone who shared it and said, “This is what anti–Roman Catholic bias looks like.” All I could think was, well, that is quite revealing. To say that St. Patrick worshiped Jesus and have your immediate thought be, “That is anti–Roman Catholic,” is a hot take. It is also pretty revealing.
