Actually, extending Collins has been the plan since the 2016 Defence White Paper, after the 2009 White Paper identified the need to replace them and decisions were left too late. Collins LOTE didn’t emerge because of AUKUS. It’s the result of decades of delayed sub replacement decisions. Does no one on staff do a basic Google search before posting this stuff?
