Telling teenagers to just stop buying “fancy clothes, watches, or cars” and save for their future ignores the reality they’re living in. How are students supposed to save for post-secondary while still in high school when the part-time jobs past generations relied on are disappearing to automation, AI, and self-checkouts? Those entry-level jobs were once the bridge to independence. That bridge is shrinking while tuition and living costs keep rising. Many families simply can’t afford to carry those costs. Students aren’t choosing luxuries over education they’re trying to find work and opportunity in an economy that offers fewer stable starting points. And Doug Ford, it’s hard to lecture young people about scraping and saving when you came from a position of family support and an established family business. Most students today don’t have that safety net. Young people don’t need lectures about spending. They need access to jobs, affordable education, and policies that reflect the world they’re actually growing up in.

Mark my words: Doug Ford made a BIG mistake hiking tuition and taking a hammer to OSAP. This already has 905 parents across many income levels, not just low income, hopping mad. Parents have been going to financial extremes during an affordability crisis to get their kids educated, and Doug just made it 100x harder for them. It's disgraceful. Yes colleges need more funding. But hiking tuition and lighting OSAP on fire isn't the answer. Doug doesn't realize it yet but this was the last straw for a big segment of his voter support. #onpoli

OSAP barely covers the basics. Students rely on OSAP while working multiple jobs just to afford necessities. No one is buying fancy watches or cologne. We need solutions that help Ontarians afford education, not dismissive remarks that invalidate students' concerns and struggles

Last night I attended a town hall hosted by @ChandraPasma on the AAADC program being cut. I heard stories from parents & students about how it helps prepare them for adulthood, work, & community. It never should’ve been cut. It’s time Ford properly funds post-secondary. #onpoli
