This is not a Nigerian cartoon. This is a Yoruba cartoon. Yoruba people are not indigenous to Nigeria only. A Yoruba from Benin republic bear names like Iyanu and same can be found in Togo, Sierra Loane, Ghana and Ivory Coast. So, seeing cartoon names after Iyanu does not necessarily mean it is a Nigerian story.
Pulse Nigeria@PulseNigeria247

Finally, a Nigerian cartoon with our characters, culture, and mythology. 😮 This animated series “Iyanu” is set in Yorubaland with all-African cast voiced by stars, including Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Stella Damasus, and Shaffy Bello. 🇳🇬🔥 ⁩ 🎥⁦: @LionForgeEnter

It is impossible to discuss geopolitics with someone who views the world through a binary lens—where the West is inherently evil and Russia or China are beyond reproach. Geopolitics should be evaluated case-by-case. For instance, in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, I support Russia because I oppose the expansion of NATO through what I view as a Western-backed administration in Kyiv. However, that doesn't mean I support Russia’s allies by default. Regarding Iran, I believe their leadership is too radical to ever be allowed nuclear weapons. It’s about logic, not blind loyalty.

When Dahomey attacked Whydah in 1727, King Haffon of Whydah first ran to Oyo Whydah kings would also get a ceremonial sword from a Yoruba kingdom, historians are not sure which, but likely Oyo or Ife The connection between Yoruba and the people in Whydah goes deep
Aare kurunmi kakanfo@AKakanfo

Thank you so much and God bless you. I thought Dahomey empire was able to erase all the Yorubas (Oyos) out of Ouidah after the fall of the Oyo empire. I didn’t know that our people survived that horror of the 19th century. @mackee_F You remember this history well. Not only did Oyo empire spread the Yoruba people across the coast of Benin republic, it also spread the Yoruba spirituality. Every great powers that came out of Ife civilisation played crucial roles in expansion of the Yoruba race. It is an unforgivable ignorance and insolence for anybody to rubbish the contribution of the Oyo empire to the body of the Yoruba race.

@mackee_F That’s even the least of the criticisms she’s received. A supposedly Yoruba-inspired book and the main character names are Zelie, Amani, Inan and Tzain. It is well.

@mackee_F If we’re being real, we know she wasn’t thinking about those specific dialects. Someone that put snow in Ilorin. 🤣

You see this “all men” narrative it’s very much related to false accusation too and why they want it to stick very bad. It’s on the premise that somehow whatever accusation is thrown at a MAN, it MUST be correct. Because Men Bad!

STATEMENT BY THE FIRST LADY OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA HER EXCELLENCY, SENATOR OLUREMI TINUBU, CON ON THE ASSAULT OF WOMEN AND GIRLS DURING THE ALUE-DO FESTIVAL IN OZORO, DELTA STATE I watched the horrific viral footage emerging from Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, showing girls physically and sexually assaulted, subjected to degrading and barbaric treatment during what was supposed to be a community festival. Whilst I hold deep respect for the diverse rich cultures and traditions that make us who we are as a people, I believe that no such tradition or custom grants any man the right to violate the dignity or freedom of any woman or girl. I commend the Nigeria Police Force for the arrests already made and urge all relevant authorities to ensure that all perpetrators face the full weight of the law. To the victims of this unfortunate incident, I urge you to seek the relevant medical and psychological help. I pray for your healing, peace and strength at this difficult time. Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
