I’m glad to have been the proposer for this motion and get this into party policy!

🚨CAMPAIGN WIN @LibDems conference voted for our proposals to tackle the driving tests crisis, making Liberal Democrats the only party with a specific policy on the issue 🏎️ We will continue to champion a fair deal for all young drivers

I mean, if there were 3 Lib Dems left on earth, they would be MSPs for Orkney, Shetland and North East Fife so this doesn't seem that far fetched

Scottish LibDem conference, possibly the smallest party conference I’ve ever been to, but ACH reckons they can win half a dozen more constituencies in May

@AlexanderBrewis I think unitaries should be based on what works best for the local area and not political jerrymandering, but that's a nice bonus
English

@mackenziegregs more importantly for us, we could still be largest party in that blue one...but honestly, these councils seemed to make sense-Greater Norwich, Greater Ipswich, Coastal Norfolk, Inland Norfolk, Rural Suffolk, Coastal Towns
English

@mackenziegregs Just had a go at something like this. Economically, does this feel it would make sense? All councils 200k-250k in terms of electorate

English

@AlexanderBrewis No, but it would make sense. The NSMCA would have a CCA for each county, and the unitaries need to be in the borders of the CCAs.
English

@mackenziegregs is there a proposal to have great yarnmouth and lowestoft in the same local authority? economically it must make some sense
English

@AlexanderBrewis It's one of the minor proposals done by Suffolk^3 and I wouldn't be surprised if the government went with this as an option, but the benefit of three is it gives people who commute to Ipswich a greater say over how it is ran.
English

@mackenziegregs gets both quite similar population, and avoids a unitary sussex, and uses existing councils as blocks. Effectively more urbanised east in one, rural west in west.
