@GmanPoker I think partially right. Also you’re a likable, authentic person people want to root for (even if there was no poker or scandle). But I think there seems to be this mysterious curtain in successful poker players lives that people can’t wait to peak behind.

Thoroughly enjoyed "Untold" about the Carlsen/Neimann chess scandal. I can't help but think a J4-Gate doc would be just as compelling. Although I'm no @MagnusCarlsen (and let's be honest, @RobbiJadeLew is no Hans), the poker controversy has better characters (Robbi/Vertucci/Beanz/etc are TV gold), a more complex whodunnit, and a lot more still to come. Appreciate the abundance of support and well wishes I received today. Was a very fortuitous run for me in the WSOP $50k NL eventually finishing runner up. Extremely grateful to be able to continue to find success in these events, and of course, a huge congrats to @JasonKoon. Not that anyone was really on the fence about his expertise in Texas 2 card, but another masterclass from a master in his craft was displayed today. Excited for the rest of the series and looking forward to seeing what other kinds of cool experiences await me in the times to come!

At 39 weeks pregnant, my wife went to a standing room only @ericprydz electronic music show last night. She danced harder than anyone in the venue, myself included. I now grant my son permission to meet his parents.

I’m not about to go all Scrooge and hate on NYE goals altogether. They serve a purpose and for a time in my life they helped to jumpstart many ambitious objectives. But they aren’t for me anymore. I wake up every day of the year challenging myself to “be the kind of person who” attacks my few greatest ambitions—personally, professionally, athletically, and beyond—with relentless focus and aggression. I live in constant fear about what my life will look like if I don’t do the above. I do not always fire on all cylinders. And such intensity is not free. I will forever have to manage my inherent anxiety. (I’m always working on that one, too.) But doing difficult shit—putting on that hard hat every day—is central to achievement. It’s responsible for so much of the good in my life. If you can similarly fall in love with doing the work, the sky is the goddamn limit. Happy new year ya’ll! I’m cheering for you in 2025. Just as long as you aren’t trying to compete against me, anyway.

@dankness3 I remember reading “What’s our problem” by Tim Urban and he states “lower rung” (opposed to highly analytical) thinkers fall more victim to conspiracy theories. I’m sure there are smart conspiracy theorist, but wonder if the rise is due to a rise in lower rung thinkers as well??

This is going to be long winded so bear with me.. or don’t For a long time I’ve been obsessed with the rising interest in conspiracy theories but even more so in the increased belief that they are in fact real. There are so many out there it’s impossible to keep up with. -9/11 being an inside job -Vaccines giving you autism -The 2020 election being stolen -The number of deaths during the holocaust being largely exaggerated -The great replacement theory -Secret sex trafficking by high rankings democrats -Jews being all powerful puppet masters who control the world -A group of all powerful Jews secretly running the world These are just a few of what feels like an infinite number of conspiracy theories that Im constantly seeing not only be talked about on here as well as other social media platforms, but believed to be true. A lot of the biggest podcasts out there, Rogan, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens etc are frequently exploring these theories to their ever growing listener bases. Now I’m not here to tell you whether or not these theories are real. I truly know nothing about any of them, nor do I care to learn. What interests me is that more and more people seem to believe to they are real. What is causing this increased belief? Is it the advance in technology that has given us quicker and easier access to information than ever before? Or is it actually just that it’s easier to spread mis information? Or is it something totally different, something more about us as people and where we are at in this current point of our lives? I’ve felt for a while now for the majority of us out there, our lives have felt like they’ve been getting worse and worse. But I have no idea if that’s based in reality or potentially just a projection that comes from within. However, if it is in fact true and actually a universal phenomenon vs just an individual one, then it would potentially explain the rise in interest and belief in all these conspiracy theories. The reason I’m writing all this is that I was watching the show Pantheon tonight and a father was talking to his daughter about conspiracy theories. He said this; “People of all ages believe in conspiracies. I think because they’re scared of death or danger. Chaos. Chaos is scary for a lot of people. And as weird as it sounds they feel much better believing that there is somebody behind the scenes controlling everything… even if that somebody is a secret society or an evil government or even an alien force controlling the world. It’s still scary.. but not as bad as feeling like there is no one in charge.” This really hit home for me and I can’t help but feeling like it explains what’s currently going on in our world. Well, not all of our worlds but certainly in this digital world of “X” or twitter or whatever the fuck it is. You may think that I’m writing this because I want to sound smart and honestly you’re not wrong. The dopamine hit from seeing the likes go up is an embarrassingly satisfying form of immediate and temporary pleasure. But I’m also just curious to see out if anyone else might feel the same way.

It’s been pretty amazing hearing several brave women come forward and seeing Karma quickly take shape. By doing so, they have protected countless others from future harassment or worse. Many are asking me if I’ll play on HCL now that they have supposedly “cleaned house” by removing Vertucci. The answer to that is a resounding hell no. The house is far from clean. There should now be a microscope on those who knew about Nick’s behavior and did nothing or worse. This is J4 repeating itself all over again in my opinion: People in positions of unchecked power doing and saying whatever they need to do to protect their business interests.

Are you saying you had no clue of this behavior when you were a reg on the show, or hanging out with Nic off stream? More respectable to speak out when you have more to lose.

As many of you know I have been a long time supporter of @HCLPokerShow and my good friend @TheRyanFeldman. No players have chosen to speak out at this time out of fear of losing seats or being banned but I personally feel this must be publicly addressed. I am appalled by the behavior of Nick Vertucci and deeply troubled by the additional allegations that continue to come out. His gross misconduct towards Julia, Lauren, and other women is inexcusable. Ryan has poured everything into building HCL into what it is today. He has always conducted himself and his business with the utmost integrity. Ryan has strived to create a fun and safe space for players, staff, and fans to enjoy poker, which is why Nick's actions are so disappointing. I firmly believe Nick needs to step away from HCL. Until that time comes I can no longer support the show in any way. I have advised my friends on staff to speak truthfully to HR and do the right thing. Anyone who loses their job due to speaking out can come to me and I will sort them out a new job. I trust Ryan and @HUSTLERCASINOLA will do the right thing and stand in support of the victims not the perpetrator.

@DougPolkVids If this also affects companies in the 100m bracket, this will affect everyone. Companies will find a way to not lose money. They will lay people off, cut back on quality of services, or add extra fees to their sales. This may target the wealthy but will affect everyone.

It starts with people with 100m, then it's 10m, then it's 1m, and before you know it, it's everyone. America doesn't have an income problem, we have a spending problem. This will just incentivize wasting even more money.
