Our Year 12 and 13 religious studies students recently travelled to York for the Human Nature Candle Conference. They spent the day listening to guest speakers and exploring different philosophical and theological ideas about human nature.

Post 16 Advance Groupstudents had an incredible visit from Billingham Fire Station at the academy. Students gained real insight into life as a Fire Officer, explored the fire engine and handled equipment. Huge thanks to Cleveland Fire Brigade for inspiring the next generation.

Post 16 A Level art students visited MIMA for inspiration ahead of their Personal Projects and exams, with the Turner Prize due there later this year. Sketching, critical analysis and a deep dive into Tees Valley art history made for a productive trip.

Year 12 and Year 9 students recently worked together during a morning session focused on careers and interactive teamwork activities. Communication and supporting one another were key as students took part in a range of practical challenges.

Macmillan Academy Post 16 students enjoyed a brilliant visit to Teesside University’s ‘Crime Day’ on Wednesday! They explored crime‑scene investigation, forensic techniques, and criminology workshops led by university experts.

Our Year 12 biologists got hands-on with a salmon gill dissection last week, bringing exchange surfaces to life for their A level studies.

Zac has once again qualified for the National Schools competition in Wolverhampton this April, proudly representing Macmillan Academy Post 16. Last year, he achieved national success before going on to represent England Schools in Jersey, earning silver and bronze medals.
