@NurseStandard Reflecting on my experience of shift work over the years I would say I preferred the 12 hour shift pattern. I had a better work life balance. Doing short shifts I frequently had 7 or 9 day stretches. I was always tired. Only those with set patterns seemed to have a good balance.
