Imagine getting annoyed that Easter eggs don’t say Easter on them, when in fact they say Easter on them. It’s really not normal.

Prolonged highs in gas prices could push up the price cap by around £500 in July. The government should use the time between now and then to think smartly about any support can target vulnerable families with lower incomes and high energy needs. Read more 👉 buff.ly/bDPVzLB

The end times are coming for Beyond Meat. Sales expected to be down 16% compared to last year. When a company delays publication of its accounts like this that's never a good sign.

Did you know 😏 He rubbed lemon juice on his face. Robbed two banks. Smiled at the cameras. Got caught in an hour. And changed psychology forever. In 1995, McArthur Wheeler walked into two banks in Pittsburgh and robbed them with no mask, no disguise, and lemon juice on his face. He believed that because lemon juice works as invisible ink on paper, it would make his face invisible to cameras. He smiled directly into the security cameras. Police aired the footage on the evening news and arrested him within an hour. When shown the tape, Wheeler stared at the screen and said, "But I wore the juice." He had tested the theory with a Polaroid selfie and didn't appear in the photo — because lemon juice got in his eyes and he aimed the camera at the ceiling. His case inspired Cornell psychologists David Dunning and Justin Kruger to publish their 1999 paper defining the Dunning-Kruger Effect — the cognitive bias where people with low ability drastically overestimate their own competence.

Although hospital activity has increased, it has grown more slowly than staffing levels, which are 24% higher than in 2019. This suggests a fall in hospital labour productivity, as seen in England – although Wales lacks the detailed productivity estimates produced by NHSE. [7/10]

Very long waits have also become much more common in Wales. 19% of patients were waiting longer than a year for treatment in December 2025, compared with 2% in December 2019. That’s despite Welsh government targets to eliminate most of these waits by spring 2025. [4/10]

NEW: A bleak assessment of the state of public services in Wales ⬇️ "Overall, performance in both the health and education systems is substantially poorer than before the COVID-19 pandemic - and poorer than in England" @TheIFS (Institute for Fiscal Studies) highlights some alarming figures in this report, including: • School absences remain 50% higher than in 2019 • Average in-patient hospital stay around 40% longer in Wales than England • A&E waiting times have, if anything, worsened over last 2 years • Share of 16 & 17 year olds in full-time education in Wales has fallen from 78% in 2014 to 64% in 2024 Re education performance, the report's authors note: "Policymakers in Wales should do more to understand the reasons behind these trends and to address them. The cost to Wales of not doing so could be high" You can read it here 📄 ifs.org.uk/sites/default/…
