So exciting to see this next chapter of @operationposid1 unfold in Kamay (Botany Bay)! This estuary is known to many for its airports and cargo, but secretly harbours beautiful Posidonia meadows, soft corals, and kelp forests. Let's go!!
Operation Posidonia@operationposid1

A new chapter of OP begins! We're working alongside the Gamay Rangers to #restore #Posidonia in Botany Bay, thanks to @wildelementsco. Congrats @adriatix our founder and Wild Innovator! We also welcome new team member @claytontmead starting this week @UNSWScience @SydneyMarine

Posidonia australis meadows are endangered in some NSW estuaries, but their decline has happened largely out of sight and out of mind. Its vital that we protect and restore precious marine habitats like Posidonia meadows for the future❤️🌏#NationalThreatenedSpeciesDay

Having lots of fun putting together a marine ecology course for #SciX 2022 with @orlamckibbin and @CariocaMayer. We will be visiting nature's classroom - the #intertidal zone - and then getting crafty with #ecostats. High school students/teachers check unsw.to/scix 📚
Dr Laura McKemmish@laura_mckemmish

Delighted to announce 2022 #scix @UNSWScience - great opportunity for NSW senior high school students to try out research including within Science Extension course! Applications open 11th October unsw.to/scix

What stage of lockdown are you at, and is it more or less deranged than sleeping on the other side of your bed just to "spice things up"?

Devastating loss of a Posidonia australis meadow in Nelson Bay after the March 2021 flooding in NSW😞 This will be a long recovery process. As disturbances become more intense and frequent, we need to look after the remaining seagrass meadows of Port Stephens (and the world)!!
Dave Harasti@daveharasti

Solastalgia. That sums up how I'm feeling right now. I just dived my favourite dive site in the world; the Pipeline in Nelson Bay for the first time following March floods. The site is devastated: all life has died above 8m. Seagrass, algae, sponges and corals are all gone. ☹️
